Small Molecules Drug Research
Biography
Dr. Vinod Kumar Nelson, obtained his MS. Pharm. in Natural Products from National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Later, he earned his Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Bose Institute and Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He has almost 6 years of teaching & research experience. He is currently working as an associate professor in the department of Center for Global Health Research at Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS). He has published papers in various reputed international journals like Aging Research Reviews, Food and Chemical toxicology, Journal of ethnopharmacology, Oncotarget, Molecular Neurobiology, BMC complementary medicine and therapies in the area of Natural Products in drug discovery. His area of interest in research focus on isolating small molecules from medicinal plants sources that modulate various transcription factors like Heat shock factor 1 (HSF1), Nuclear Factor Kappa-B (NF-κB), mTOR that helps in treating the dreadful diseases like cancer and Neurogenerative diseases by using cell as well as animal models.
