Biography

Professor Raman Muthusamy the adviser and Research Professor at the Center for Global Health Research at Saveetha Medical College and Hospital, SIMATS is the former Director of the Translational Research Platform for Veterinary Biologicals (https://www.trpvb.org.in/index.html) a novel partnership program of Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India at Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University(TANUVAS), Chennai(https://tanuvas.ac.in/index.php). Prof Raman M led the multi-country, Interdisciplinary GCRF One Health Poultry hub with £18.1 million funds at TANUVAS, Chennai  as National Co-ordinator and Principal Investigator (https://gow.bbsrc.ukri.org/grants/AwardDetails.aspx?FundingReference=BB/S011269/1) till July 2022 before joining in the dept of Microbiology, Centre for Infectious Diseases, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences in September 2022.

Currently Prof Raman M is working on a collaborative research project led by Australian National University under Australian Research Council-Discovery projects Rounds 1-2024  of (Project no.DP240100187) on “Planet Chicken: Chemical Entanglements in Asia's Poultry Boom” along with University of Sydney, University of Copenhagen, Denmark, Chiang Mai University, Thailand and Institute of Cultural Studies, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences with a budget of $696,101.00 for three years from Jan 2024 till December 2026 (https://dataportal.arc.gov.au/NCGP/Web/Grant/Grant/DP240100187 ).With Christian Medical College, Vellore he is working on NIH-NIAID Tropical Medicine Research Centre on “Changing the Landscape of Soil Transmitted Helminth Infections in India Using a One Health Approach” along with https://reporter.nih.gov/search/S5xR503SYUCNMaD_WD_t-g/project-details/10434981 Indian Institute of Public Health, Shillong, University of Washington, Seattle, University of California, Berkley and Quinnipiac University with a budget outlay of $347,100 for 4 years from March 2023 to Feb 2027. More recently with Dept of Bio medical technology dept of DST-Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Technical and Medical Sciences, Trivandrum (https://www.sctimst.ac.in/)  on evaluating the “Therapeutic patches with dissolving microneedles for the dermal delivery of acaricides for control of parasitic dermatitis” funded under the Core Research Grant, DST SERB with a budget outlay of Rs 40 lakhs for 3 years from April 2024 to March 2027.
